HIYO PEOPLE!!!!

Updating my blog from Sandusky :)

It's not that i've been too busy with work to update, but i've just been reallyyyy lazy (chewy the procrasinator, rem?) so i've been putting this off for like forever.

Reached here 2 weeks ago. Think i'm more or less adjusted to life here already. As you all might know, the weather's so dry here and i was peeling so badly that i made an embarrassing fb status update to whine about my pathetic skin condition. After trying a few moisturizers, i finally found one which works (for now *cross fingers*) and I'm peeling less now. My scalp's still pretty bad, but i see it improving? (again, *cross fingers* cos i'm a jinx at these kinda things) I hope it's a sign that my body's adjusting to the weather. Otherwise i dont think i can handle it any longer.

Oh did i mention that it's really sunny here? i got tanner after spending just one day under the sun when shiya and i walked from the mall to meijer. I hate tan lines (my wrist is fairer than the rest of my arm cos of the watch i was wearing and it makes me feel like a power ranger...cos of the watch thingy they always wear to teleport, get it??? if not forget it cos it sounds pretty ridiculous to me too. meh). i think i'm just gonna get darker cos summer's approaching and it's just gonna get sunnier. you all can look forward to:
a) a dirty-looking chewy

b) roast chicken chewy or

c) all of the above.

Work-wise, I'm currently a busser at one of the snoopy-themed cafes at the theme park. Work is tough, though hours are short. i just cant handle carrying those heavy dishes. i swear each load is about 10kg. no kidding.

Ceramic & plastic dishes + cutlery + leftover drinks = dying chewy with dying arms with breaking back.

We already asked for a job transfer (explained how our delicate selves cannot handle such tough work) but there's still no news. I hope the manager's serious about helping us with it, cos i dont think i can handle another few hours (max 5 hrs when biz is good at the cafe) of such a physically demanding job :/

There's honestly nothing much to do here. The theme park's quite ulu, the dorm's 10mins from the park, and the more happening parts (mall, meijer, walmart) are 20mins away. Cabs are ex here, so we usually use the shuttle bus service they provide for the employees here. So on our day off, there r limited activities for us to attempt lor. We usually just end up spending the day at the recreation centre to surf net (there's no wi-fi anywhere else in the dorms). Meh :(

oh and most of you would have heard me complain about my roomies (not shiya, but the other 2 international ones) already. I was really angry the night before cos i woke up at 3am to noise from the TV. The lights were on, tv was on and guess wad, EVEN THE DOOR WAS LEFT AJAR. And mind you, EVERYONE WAS ASLEEP! omg i was so appalled. I almost kicked them in their sleep. I dont understand how some people can be so inconsiderate (the ping ping piang piangs in the mornings/nights), and so dumb. They're practically inviting trouble to the room :/Wanted to scold them but one of the roomies came back last night with a scowl on her face, complaining about something. I thought she was just grumbling about her job as usual, so i ignored her as she rattled on to her friend (in their language, might i add). I only started paying attention when there was a harsh knock on the door and security guards came into the room. Turned out that she fell and her leg slipped through the steps when she was crossing the overhead bridge. The paramedics came afterwards and she was taken to the hospital to check for major injuries. The funny thing is shiya was totally oblivious to the drama in the room cos she was busy playing games on her laptop (even though she was sitting at the door. Snigger). It was a crazy night man :/

Okay i feel like napping now...especially since i'm still full from the pizza buffet we had just now.

Buffets are so cheap here it feels pretty dumb to eat at macs (the cost for a meal is about that of a buffet here). Mew mew.

Alright that's it for now. Dont miss me much nya. Hehe.

YAYYY i'm back. No, actually i'm not.

Hahaha just writing some crap while i'm in class. Watched a korean film and am now listening to the guest lecturer drone on and on about it. Ooooh i just looked up and saw him grin widely at the class even though it obviously is a dead silent one. No, not gonna give him the satisfaction of an interaction *ducks behind the laptop and pretends to be busy*.

I mean, just how many people are actually paying full attention to him? The one next to me (i'm not naming names, but people who know me will probably know who she is cos we're supposedly one entity to many people in school. smirk) just slipped out to answer her phone, the one next to her is reading some blog, the one next to the blog-girl is editing her powerpoint slides, the girl clique in the second row is surfing some blogshop, and the one in front of me is....err i dunno cos i can't see his small screen :/

which brings me to the topic of laptops. Why do people fancy pea sized laptops? What are they hoping for? Early blindness? Or they just like putting their face near their screens to experiment what's the optimal distance to NOT get facial oil on the glass? Me no understand. Light is not a good reason. I'd rather than muscled arms from carrying huge laptops than have bony/flabby arms and bad eyesight.

Alright the lecturer's finally touching on something that interests me a bit. Gonna go and try to pay attention. *shuffles off*

The Bird
Monday, February 1, 2010

I had a visit from a little birdie last night.

I had just carried my laptop into the bedroom so I could lay down and play abit before I sleep when I noticed a yellow bird perched on the side of my bed.

Cue scream.
"为什么有一只鸟在我的床!?”
I swung around and glared accusingly at my sister, thinking it was her idea of a practical joke, because it seriously looked like a fake bird (it was motionless despite all the commotion).

Anyway it turned out to be a real bird :/ My papa tried to catch it but it flew away and hid behind my sister's shelf of books. More jostling and shifting of books before we found the yellow birdie. According to my papa, it was a songbird or something like that (I'm supposed to think that the 'chip chip chip' is a tune??)? Apparently it could fetch good money (roll eyes, but what do i know about birds?) but well, being the nice people that we are, we freed it. Smirk.

The bird in a plastic bag before we released it.

On an entirely different note, I noticed something today:the two angmoh exchange students in my class carrying the NTU sling bags. Which led me to wonder why. Don't they have their own bags? Bags that are trendier? And they are girls leh. I thought girls are supposed to be fashion-conscious or something? Or perhaps as mel had pointed out, they didn't really care cos no one knew them here? But then again, the other exchange students (jap and taiwanese) weren't carrying them. Hur.

So would you carry it? Even though it doesn't exactly make a fashion statement (blue and black with ntu stenciled at the corner of the flap of the bag. Yea right.).

Actually I probably won't mind. Now I suddenly feel that our uni is more generous. The HK uni i went to for exchange didn't even offer me as much as a free pen. The only memento I brought back (the sch's PE tee) was purchased with my own money :/ Snort.

Bah, whatever. I'm gonna go rest. Hopefully there won't be another birdie waiting for me on my bed.

I'm so sick of hearing CNY songs in shops. Shouldn't there be a rule like you can only start playing CNY songs a week before it starts? You know, like what we do for national day, where we can only start hanging flags in the month of August? 'Cos seriously, I don't think I can stomach another "dong dong dong chiang" =_=;

I'm not looking forward to CNY. 'Tis the season to sit in front of the TV and gorge yourself with food. Sounds like a good deal, no? Except you've to sit there for hours watching shows that don't really appeal to you in homes that you can't roam freely about. Plus you've to sit around waiting for the adults (you know, ADULT adults, cos i'm aware i'm an adult legally too) to finish whatever they are doing (mahjong, chatting, whatever floats their boat) while you're stuck with making small talk with relatives whom you see once a year and are MIA for the rest. Yawns.
**For relatives who are reading, that's not personal so please don't take offence. Snigger.

It's not as if it's a long holiday anyway. Not to mention i've lotsa things to complete before CNY. Projects? Research? Presentation? OOH buying new clothes! See, another task to conquer. Buying new clothes that are SUITABLE for the occasion? Grrr. AND WHAT?!? Spring cleaning?? NOOO DON'T REMIND ME OF SPRING CLEANING!! NOOOOONOOOO.

Now tell me why I should be looking forward to CNY :/

Lol. So I got complained for taking too long to update my blog (ne, you know who you are. snigger).

Nope, I wasn't taking a break from it. Let's just say I kinda forgot I've a blog. HAHAHA. Aiya, my life has been too boring lately. School, projects, SL (I got ridiculed by PL for including a bookmark on my navigation toolbar but it's true that I visit that site very often wad! I need to bank in my money before people steal them away. meh) and making new friends.

Yea, I've been trying to be more sociable lately. It doesn't help that there are a lot of unfamiliar faces in my classes. Speaking of classes, have you heard me complain about the school cancelling one of the modules I'd added during the holidays? Yes?? Sorry you've to listen again cos i suddenly have an urge to grumble.

Anyway, the school cancelled one of the broadcast modules and when I emailed the person-in-charge to ask her NICELY why and consequently spent the next paragraph explaining my sob story to her, she replied 2 days later with a "class was cancelled due to low enrolment". wtf. This wasn't the first time they did such a thing to me. Seriously. Cancel my class? Fineee. At least make me feel better by saying you apologise for the inconvenience, then offer some assistance to help me get other modules. Like that I'd feel more shuang, no?? What's with the cold approach? Next time they send me some "graduation gift" email asking me to donate money to the school, I should probably reply with a "haven't work, no money, how to donate?" isit? Some people should learn to take lessons in writing emails. It doesn't have to get so impersonal you come off as unfeeling. But whatever. The thing now is that I was forced to take another module which is reallyyyyy realllyyyyy Boring (with a capital B). The class only has 7 people (including me). Is it pathetic or what? Sighs.

Boo. Oh yah and I've quite a lot of exchange students in my classes. While attempting to be Ms Friendly, I've been working towards becoming a Ms Not-So-Invisible-In-Class also. I mean it's not like I've a choice. The classes I'm taking are all so small. It's a good thing my name doesn't really stick in the profs' minds, unike PL's. Snigger. She's been harrassed (in a good way! ahem :D) by the profs cos her name's easy to remember. nyaahhaha.

okok i shall stop. I hope I won't take another 2 months before I next update. I do have a lot of stories to share one, like that time on the train..... Oh well, forget it. I'll just admit I'm lazy. It's faster. Snigger

=___=;

Some girl on SL wrote me in the "burn" list and then left this message for me:
"You took advantage. You got a lot of money off me. I just got out of the ICU. I nearly died. Did you not think there was a reason you were getting so much money. This is supposed to be a game. I am ashamed of you . Enjoy all that play money".

Errm. She said it's a game. But she's getting all worked up. How was I supposed to know she had all that money cos she was in ICU and had to be away for an extended period of time? =__= I spent money to recuperate in the spa so i had to attack people who can help me recoup my losses wad. Is that logic wrong? :/ Grah. Even virtual SL is like the real SL. Girls are all so bitchy. I get attacked by the same girl for like umpteen times and I didn't even leave a threatening message for her. Why? Because it is just a game, no?:/ I don't even know if i'm supposed to reply to that. kb

*edit: anyway, i apologised to her. Not that i'm humji, but i did feel bad for her. She seems to care alot about it? Hur i guess the lesson learned is only attack girls who give u lousy money.

flames, not fame
Sunday, November 22, 2009

Mew my paper tml will supposedly include a question on our favourite former ms sg world so i'm doing some last minute research on her (if u can call watching and laughing at videos, research..yea anything to avoid notes and textbooks :/). I find her q&a session particularly..erm..impressive. Really don't understand why people would put themselves out there to be ridiculed (I mean even if you did well you never know what people who are watching in the security of their homes are saying about you). Is the fame really worth it? :/ I'd rather not give people the chance to make me the butt of their jokes. bleah
